Meet Bethany Cobley: Marketing Executive at Warranty First

Bethany’s journey with the business started in direct sales before a move into marketing opened the door to everything from email campaigns and dealership materials to print production and the recent Warranty First rebrand. We caught up with Bethany to talk about her route into the motor industry, what goes on behind the scenes at Warranty First and why listening, clarity and a good honest opinion matter so much.
What do you do at Warranty First?
I started at Warranty First in the direct sales team, helping customers renew the plans arranged when they purchased their vehicles. Seven months after joining, I was promoted to Senior Sales Associate and began supporting the marketing team alongside my sales role. I’m now a Marketing Executive, working on everything from emails and plan booklets to dealership materials, print production and wider projects such as our company rebrand.
How did you find your way into the motor industry and eventually to Warranty First?
I didn’t have a background in the motor industry when I joined Warranty First so there was a lot to learn. Speaking with customers every day helped me build my knowledge and I soon realised how much I enjoyed the communication side of the role. That eventually opened the door for me to move into marketing.
What does your role involve when you’re not answering questions like these?
I could be working on an email campaign, creating plan booklets, designing point of sale materials for dealerships or coordinating with suppliers to get something ready for print. I also work with different teams across the business to make sure everything we produce is clear within the Warranty First brand.
What would your colleagues say you’re the go-to person for?
Probably for an honest opinion. Whether someone needs help with an idea, can’t work out how to word something or just wants a second opinion, I am always happy to help.
What do you enjoy most about working with dealers and customers?
I enjoy the people side of it. They're all different, so I like taking the time to understand what they actually need. Whether that means helping a customer feel more confident about their options or creating something that makes a dealer’s job easier, it’s rewarding to know I have helped.
What’s the most satisfying problem you get to help solve?
The most satisfying challenge has been helping to bring our rebrand to life. From plan booklets and posters to emails and dealership materials, every piece has a different job. I’ve really enjoyed finding the right balance between making each one useful while making sure everything still feels like Warranty First.
In your view, what makes a brilliant marketing campaign?
I think the small details are what turn a good marketing campaign into a brilliant one. The wording, design and message should all feel connected and recognisable. For me, the best campaigns are clear, consistent and memorable without trying too hard.
What’s one thing about Warranty First that might surprise people?
I think people would be surprised by how much happens behind the scenes. It’s easy to think a warranty company just sells plans and deals with repairs but there are lots of different teams working together to support our dealers and customers. There’s much more to it than I realised before I joined.
What are you most excited about over the next 12 months?
I'm excited to start my CIM Level 4 Apprenticeship in Professional and Digital Marketing in October. I can’t wait to learn more and grow in my role.
Finally, give us a fact about you that has absolutely nothing to do with warranties...
I did a skydive a few years ago and it’s still one of the best things I’ve ever experienced. I was nervous before the jump but I’m still so proud of myself for finding the courage to do it.
