Hidden Surprises: The Coolest Secret Features Found in Cars

Nothing beats an Easter egg hunt, but in the car world, it’s not just chocolate-themed surprises we’re on the lookout for; your car might have some cool discoveries up its sleeve too! Car manufacturers have got a habit of hiding items or images around certain models - here are our favourites…

Skoda Octavia

We’ll start off practical, and it doesn’t get more practical than an ice scraper. While some manufacturers have opted for more whimsical surprises around their models, the Octavia has your back on a frosty day; pop open the fuel cap and you’ll find a handy little ice scraper.

Volvo XC90

If you’re the owner of an XC90, you’re never quite alone on your travels; there’s an 8-legged friend hidden in the armrest storage bin. The Volvo spider’s purpose isn’t entirely clear, but sure enough, if you lift the lid of the armrest bin between the driver and the front passenger seat, you can peek at the little critter sitting on his web.

Vauxhall Corsa

Ever seen a shark in Vauxhall Corsa? It’s not as wild an idea as you might think; in fact, there’s one in the glove box! In order to reinforce the hinges, Corsa interior designer Dietmar Finger’s son had the bright idea to make the shape of a shark, which is a great shout that stands the test of time in Corsas made since 2004.

Tesla Model S

In typical Tesla tech fashion, there’s a Bond-shaped surprise available via the touchscreen of a Model S. Simply press and hold the Tesla logo on the touch screen, and enter ‘007’ when you’re asked to enter a code. A white Lotus Espirit (as seen in The Spy Who Loved Me) appears, and you’re then able to depth in ‘leagues’ to raise or lower the car you’re sitting in.

Jaguar E-Pace

You know the iconic Jaguar logo, right? Whilst fierce and dynamic usually, Jaguar as a brand has included a softer side to this emblem on their stunning E-Pace. If you look carefully at the bottom of the windscreen, you’ll see a Mama Jaguar and her cub! Very cute.

Volkswagen ID 3

You’re probably not in the habit of looking at your car’s pedals, but if you’re the owner of a Volkswagen ID 3, a surprise is waiting for you in the footwell - just maybe don’t peek while you’re on the move. Pause and play symbols feature on the accelerator and the brake, adding a bit of fun to your runaround.

Jeep Renegade

This is bad news if you’re not a big fan of spiders, as Jeep have an 8-legged friend to rival Volvos; Jeep Renegade models have a chatty spider sitting under the fuel cap - he’s even saying ‘ciao baby’!

Hyundai Genesis

Definitely more cool than quirky is the Hyundai Genesis - all that’s required is a simple click of key fob, which prompts the wing mirrors to fold out, and the brand’s logo to be projected onto the ground on the driver’s side.

Jeep Wrangler

More from Easter egg lovers Jeep! This time it’s the Wrangler, where some models feature a nod to their beloved World War II model, the Jimmy. Take a look at the alloys on applicable models, where you could see a small depiction of this hard-working vintage vehicle.
